"I originally had a good experience with this office. My agent, Kelly, was a pleasure to work with when I purchased my original boat policy. Unfortunately, my later experience with the renewal process was very frustrating. My experience was that this office was much more attentive when selling policies than when helping me through a renewal issue. I received check-in calls during the year that seemed focused on selling additional insurance, but I was not contacted before renewal to discuss the higher premium, my boat’s depreciation, or whether the renewed policy still made sense. I received a renewal bill at a higher premium and understood from the bill that if I did not pay, I would lose coverage. I chose not to pay because I did not want to renew the policy. I did not believe I needed to contact the office or send replacement-policy information at all. My later response to the office was only a courtesy after they contacted me, not an attempt to accept, extend, or coordinate coverage. The office manager told me the policy had to be “cancelled,” even though I told him I was letting it expire. Eventually, I told him to go ahead and cancel it with a backdate to the end of my policy term if that was what he needed. He then asked me to send my new policy information, but I was not asking State Farm to coordinate replacement coverage, verify another policy, or do anything that required my new insurance documents. He eventually sent me a thumbs-up emoji and said he would handle it. After that, I received a bill for two weeks of a renewed policy I had not paid for and did not intend to continue. On a later phone call, the office manager acknowledged that if I had simply not paid, I would not have had coverage or owed a bill. Based on my experience, I would be very cautious about responding to renewal follow-ups from this office. I tried to be courteous and helpful, but that interaction resulted in a disputed bill for coverage I did not intend to renew."

"Hi Steve, I am so sorry for your experience. All policies in the state of Florida are automatic renewal, unless you tell us otherwise. With that said, your policy should have been cancelled by my office upon notification that you did not want to renew. We appreciate your business and value you as a customer, past or present. Our goal is to always keep you on good terms so we can earn back your business and continue to build the relationship. We are not a 1-800 number where you get a different representative with each interaction. We stay small to personalize service. I am sorry for your experience. We will be reviewing processes in my office tomorrow regarding this matter. Please reach out to me to discuss further. - Christina "
